Qatar Ministry of Environment participates in awareness programs on International Plastic Bag Free Day. The Municipality of Qatar Ministry of Environment is organizing the competition for the general public as part of awareness campaigns to reduce the use of plastics. The competition is part of an effort to educate people to participate in environmental protection by reducing the use of plastics.

The prize is for those who come up with the best idea to help reduce the use of disposable plastic bags in the competition, which is organized under the slogan 'Plastic Free Future'. The ministry made the announcement through its Twitter account. Those who have their own ideas that can be put into practice can participate in the competition. The idea has to be submitted through the ministry’s Instagram.  Contestants must tag the Instagram account (albaladiya) of the Ministry of Environment of the Municipality. The hashtag #FutureWithoutPlastics should be used in the post submitting the idea. You must also tag three friends to participate in the contest. The Ministry is organizing various events to educate the people on the use of recyclable plastic bags and the need to minimize the use of disposable plastic bags.
